Is my data private?
Yes. All your summaries and links are stored locally on your machine. Tidbit only sends the content you want summarized to your chosen AI provider (Claude, GPT, GitHub Copilot, Kimi, or Ollama). We don't collect or store any of your data, and if you use Ollama the content never leaves your machine.
Do I need API keys?
It depends on the provider. Cloud providers (Claude from Anthropic, GPT from OpenAI, GitHub Copilot, Kimi from Moonshot AI) require their own API keys or subscriptions, which you provide. Ollama runs locally and doesn't need a key. Keys are stored securely on your device and used only to generate summaries — you control the costs based on your usage.
Can I use custom prompts?
Yes! You can create custom summarizer presets with your own prompts. This allows you to tailor summaries for different content types like technical docs, news articles, or academic papers.
What types of content can I summarize?
Any publicly accessible web content - blog posts, articles, documentation, research papers, news, product pages, and more. Tidbit extracts the main content and passes it to the AI for summarization.
